Maureen G. Reed is Distinguished Professor and UNESCO Chair in Biocultural Diversity, Sustainability, Reconciliation, and Renewal at the School of Environment and Sustainability, University of Saskatchewan, Canada. She has conducted research and capacity building for governance with UNESCO Biosphere Regions in Canada for over 20 years. Her interest in this project lies in collaborating with Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples to enhance the effectiveness of Biosphere Regions to conserve biological diversity while ensuring equitable outcomes for all who live and work in those regions.
